There is a saying “It takes a village to raise a child”, and we at Pasifika at Home realise how important it is to find the right person to help raise your child. We will support you in finding an educator, who respects and practices the same family traditions, values, religious beliefs, and shares with your child on a daily basis, the culture that they are used to experiencing in their own home.
Pasifika at Home’s objective is to ensure that all children are educated and cared for in a warm, loving and homely environment. A place where they are free to play, explore and develop into confident, happy and emotionally enriched young members of the Pasifika community. The educators at Pasifika at Home will offer for your child the opportunity to develop good social skills through organised playgroups and interactions with other children in a small group settings.
Our educatorsOur educators and coordinators become your extended family. They will care for your child as if they were their own. Pasifika at Home is about building strong relationships between educators, teachers and families to support children. Just like any village, our coordinators will work to strengthen these relationships – providing support to educators and keeping in regular contact with families to receive feedback for both parties.
One of our coordinators will meet with you to find an educator who matches your requirements (relating to culture, language, religion, education and times you require care) you have for your child.
If you already have an informal care arrangement, you and your carer can benefit from our programme. We also welcome parents who want to stay home with their child and become an educator for additional children.
If you want to train for an educator role, we will facilitate helping you with your studies. Our programme is also open to people with or without experience.
"Kelisimi and Fifita enjoy singing, playing toys and painting”. The best thing about Ana’s service is “she can do some activities for the children age”. Would Uluaki recommend Ana to friends or family? “Yes, because she’s a best educator to my children that I know. She do her best for them."
"My child enjoys playing with other children, playing with toys, blocks, puzzles etc and doing activities like painting, drawing”. The best thing about Ana’s service is “she can do some activities regarding to the children age”. Would Polohiva recommend Ana to friends or family? “Yes, because she can love and taking good care of my children."
"My daughter loves singing and dancing to her favourite songs. Joyous joins with the children to encourage and enhance their language and social skills. I like it when I go to drop my daughter in the morning. Joyous have already set the learning environment ready for my daughter to explore”. Would Raera recommend Joyous to friends or family? “Yes, I would because my daughter can confidently identify her colours shapes, numbers and as well speak a few Niuean words."
"My daughter enjoys going to Violet because she feels comfortable at her service and she does a lot of activities like painting, making masks, building blocks, dressing up dolls and most of all she enjoys going to the park, play grounds at the McDonalds and going to the Op Shops to buy resources for them to play with. I would recommend Violet to other friends and family because I believe that the children will learn a lot of things like my daughter can talk more clearly and helps me with tidying up at home. She can also say some Niuean words quiet clearly."
"My children love playing with the other two children, singing songs in our Tongan language, painting, drawing, building blocks, being read stories too, going out to the park and the library and lots of other things that they do with Lorita. I will recommend Lorita to care for other people’s children, because I have seen the result of her teaching at the school where some of the children from her service have gone too. The children settled easily and the parents didn’t have any problems with leaving them at school. The children were above to recognise the letters and colours and know how to write their names."
